A radio station vehicle was flipped over by someone using a stolen forklift, and now Ridgeland police are looking for answers.

"Everything was normal when we left (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m., and when we got here at 7:30 a.m., it was like this," said Amy Martin, who works at the shopping center on Pear Orchard Road.

A WKXI vehicle was laying on its side at the Odyssey North Shopping Center parking lot when people arrived at work Wednesday morning. Ridgeland police said they got a call about 5 a.m. after a found a stolen forklift stuck in mud and abandoned on the side of the building.

Police said the forklift was used to tip over the vehicle. It also damaged pallets from another neighboring business.

"As we walked up to the office, I assumed that it actually got stuck in the mud here, which hit the pallets," said Victor Jackson, an Aerus employee.

Workers said the forklift had been sitting in the parking lot for several days and was to be used for maintenance and construction work.

"Because of this, we're going to now install cameras on the outside of our building to monitor every angle, and I'm fairly certain that the other buildings are going to do the same," Martin, a health care administrator, said.

Ridgeland police have not identified the culprit, but investigators hope to learn more from surveillance recorded by nearby businesses.
