A natural gas leak at Costco in East Wenatchee early this morning led to the evacuation of the building.
The leak was reported at 4:15 a.m. when only employees were inside the store.
Kay McKellar, public information officer for Douglas County Fire District 2, said a fork lift driver hit a heating system in the ceiling, rupturing a natural gas line.
Douglas District 2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 responded and the gas company turned off the natural gas to the store, McKellar said
Firefighters ventilated the building and the scene was cleared just before 7 a.m., in plenty of time for the store to open at its scheduled 10 a.m. time.
