A Nixville man died Monday morning following an accident at the Elliott Sawmilling Company campus in Estill.

According to a Hampton County EMS report, EMS units were dispatched to the Elliott sawmill at 7:19 a.m. Monday, May 10, for an accident involving a forklift versus a pedestrian. EMS transported one patient to Hampton Regional Medical Center.

The Hampton County Coroner’s Office was requested by EMS to respond to HRMC around 8:06 a.m.

Timothy Herman Ginn, 61, of 1157 Turner Expressway, Estill (Nixville area), was pronounced dead at the hospital from the forklift injuries, said Hampton County Deputy Coroner Preston Altman.

No autopsy has been scheduled, but the incident is under investigation, Altman added.

This fatal accident impacts a Hampton County family that is no stranger to tragedy. Members of Ginn’s immediate family were among the five people killed during the April 2020 tornado that struck southern Hampton County, said the Coroner's OfficeElliott Sawmilling, once owned locally, was purchased by a Canadian company, Canfor Corporation, in 2020.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton but are incomplete at this time.
